“ ‘For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,’ saith the Lord, ‘thoughts of peace, and not of evil…’ ” Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV)

Our dear prayer warriors,

Our hearts are filled with deep gratitude to the Lord.   Since we got the calling to serve in South America in 1979 until now, our vision has been focused.   In spite of so many trials during all these past years, by God’s grace and His mercy, our desire has always been to come back to Lima, Peru to fulfill our ministries.  So last year in July, after Grace’s recovery from her lung surgery, we went back to Lima again.    We were very thankful for all the doors that He opened for us in the seminary, in the Peruvian Church and among the Chinese community.  Our second term with SIM would have ended in January 2006.

However, it seems that we need to leave for an early Home Assignment.  As you know, Grace has been advised by the oncologists to take a CAT SCAN every 3 months wherever she is.  The one she took in September was quite stable with the same situation as after her surgery.  But the last one in May was not quite satisfactory.  The spots in the lungs have increased in quantity and size.  The family doctor, an oncologist, advised Grace to see another oncologist, a specialist for lung cancer.  After examining all the films, he advised Grace to have a “videotoraxcopia” in order to make a biopsy and   decide the posterior treatment.

Having prayed and considered, we requested an earlier Home Assignment.  On the one hand, we do not have medical insurance here in Lima, so Grace needs to go back to Hong Kong for her medical check-ups and follow-ups.  After that, we will schedule our visits to our supporters and churches.  We would really love to go and share time with you and thank you personally for all your support during all these years of serving the Lord.  Some have supported and prayed for Grace for more than 33 years.  Praise the Lord, the Gospel has been proclaimed in different countries through you and us.

If God permits, we will leave in August.   God’s timing is the best.  Otto just finished his term in the seminary.  He is still correcting papers.  Grace has just passed the ministry in La Molina completely to the Mission “Go International” this month.   Now we are busy sorting things.  Please pray for our strength and health.  It is never easy to say “good-bye.”  We will visit Jesed in Montreal and then go to Hong Kong directly.

Prayer request:

  1. Pray for the trip back to Hong Kong
  2. Pray for the new professors who will come and serve in the seminary.
  3. Pray for the Chinese ministry in Lima, Peru.
  4. Pray for all the appointments that Grace will have in Hong Kong.

Serving with you in Christ,

Otto & Grace
