Greetings from dry harmatan season of Kano, Nigeria! The Christmas is coming very soon, hope that each one of you will experience peace and joy by caring for others as the example of Christ who came down to earth to live with us.

Fun in language

I have already back from language school since 1st Dec. Hausa language is 'noun system'. Every noun has gender, different forms and changeable and that is very different from Chinese and English. And I sometimes make funny pronunciation and mistake, which brings lots of joy to the people. They all really appreciate of our effort in both learning and trying of their language.

Challenge in ministry

Gidan Bege ("House of Hope" in Hausa) seeks to meet physical and emotional needs through the use of medicine, prosthetics, literacy training, vocational training, providing scholarships, food, clothing, shelter and love in order to build bridges for the gospel.

We're now doing medical outreach every Tuesday and Thursday in different blind towns and will also start street outreach on every Monday and Wednesday next month inside the city of Kano. Every two months we go to the villages as well.

So far we have been to 5 different blind towns, people are showing appreciation and interest of our faith. Some of them even say that they will come to visit our office and to talk more. Almighty God is working wonderfully through us. Please continue to pray and support the ministry.

There are now two M-converts living in the center and we are giving discipleship training for them. One of them came from a very complicated family background and that we are still investigating his motivation. Please pray that God will grant us His wisdom and knowledge knowing how to help them and that they will also truly follow and serve Christ.

Stress of life

Traffic – The no.1 stress of life here in Kano is really the traffic. I have seen traffic accident happened many times. There is no rule on the road and no control in numbers of motorcycles. It is chaos on the road all the time that I cannot even describe it just by words.

Electricity is very weak that it stops our plan, daily life and ministry. Water also needs to be pumped by electricity as well. So we always thank God when we have both. Life adjustment for me is to understand that I cannot control my work by lack of resources. But I will still feel frustrated sometimes when the food is spoiled in my fridge because of long time no electricity.

Serving in mission together

Praise

1)      By God's grace I have already bought a second hand car through a leaving missionary. And this car will be used as mission vehicle.

2)      God has answered my prayers faithfully by bringing me people to help me in different ways.

Prayer

1)   Pray for my on-going language study, car practice and life settlement.

2)   Pray for our outreaches that we may have opportunity to share our faith.

3)   Pray for those converts that they will grow strong in spiritual life through our discipleship training.

4)   Pray for my preparation on training those volunteer in medically.

Opportunity

1)      We are raising fund together with my supervisors from America for some equipment for our village- outreach in Kano. Those are like a ministry van for carry staffs and volunteers, medicines and equipment; a generator and a projector for the Jesus film.    (You may contribute to ministry support with specification of "Gidan Bege ministry" through SIM.)

2)      The car I bought I will use it for Blind Town outreach inside city of Kano. And those expense on petrol of mileage, car insurance and maintenance as well as the on-going  language study will be claimed from ministry fund. (You may continue to contribute to "ministry support" through SIM.)

In Christ,

Serina
